Fordite
At the Affa studio, jewelry is crafted with Fordite to highlight the era of American automobile production through conscious design. It is also known as Detroit agate or Motor City agate, and was discovered in the automotive factories of Detroit, Michigan, where layers of enamel paint were built up on tracks, skids, and painting fixtures over many years. Salvaged from the factories, Fordite is valued for its beauty and history, reflecting the specific manufacturing processes and paint colors used in the factory where it was found.
